Harold Myhre

November 14, 1924 - August 18, 2009

Tribute

Harold passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at Cowichan District Hospital, with a softball signed by his grandchildren in one hand and a John Deere tractor in the other.
Harold leaves the love of his life Ruth, his wife for 58 years, sister Solveig in Victoria, children Jim (Jan) in Calgary, Janet in Vancouver, Debbie (Ken) in Vancouver, Les (Denise) in Duncan, Larry (Jan) on the family farm, 16 grandchildren to whom he taught each one to play crib, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Harold was born in Rose Valley, Sask. In 1924 but farmed for 55 years at Cowichan Station. He was well known for his friendly easy going banter, card playing at the Seniors, watching fast ball, and working with the Cowichan Exhibition, Cobble Hill Fair, Cowichan Bay Fire Dept, Bright Angel Park, and Vintage Machinery Club while finding time to milk cows.
Harold and Ruth spent many happy hours calling in to see friends and relatives, young and old, just to stay in touch.
Harold will travel to his final resting spot at St Andrew’s Church on his beloved ‘Old Johnny’ Model B John Deere tractor in a private family ceremony. Friends are invited to a tea at the farm, 1850 Parker Road, on Sunday August 30th, 2:00-4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cowichan District Hospital.
In tribute to Harold, his family will demonstrate his 1917 threshing machine at the Cobble Hill Fair. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com
