Greg Clifford
Tribute
1952 to 2026
Whether you knew him as Greg, Uncle Greg, or Cliffy, you knew a man whose kindness, steadiness, and generosity left a lasting impression. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Phyllis; his sister, Carol; his mother-in-law, Tennice; and his father-in-law, Blake. He will be deeply missed by Carla, his wife of more than 45 years; his brother-in-law, Kevin; his sister-in-law, Sally; and all of his nieces and nephews.
Greg began his career in lending shortly after graduating from college and remained in the business throughout his working life. He genuinely enjoyed getting to know his clients and truly cared about helping them make the choices that were right for them.
Above all, Greg loved his family and friends deeply. He showed that love simply and faithfully—by being there, caring without hesitation, and doing what was right even when it was not the easiest choice. He was someone you could always count on, and his quiet loyalty made those around him feel truly cared for. His sense of humour was unmistakably Greg, especially his familiar answer when asked how he was doing: “working harder than I like for less money than I like.”
Greg found joy in familiar comforts: playing with Kylie and Bryson – the kids; his beloved rescue cats – the girls; sour, rock-hard apples – preferably crab apples; Manitoba – the home he always carried in his heart despite its winters and oversized mosquitoes; and his regular walks at Malahat SkyWalk. And, of course, always and forever … Friday is pizza day—and don’t forget the crushed chili peppers.
Carla and the family offer their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and volunteers who cared for Greg during his brief illness: Dr. Mark Sanders of Cowichan Collaborative Health, and Dr. Kim Adzich and everyone at Cowichan Hospice House. Their tireless care brought comfort to both Greg and Carla in his final days, and their kindness will always be remembered.
In honour of the things that mattered most to Greg, donations in lieu of flowers to Cowichan Cat Rescue or Cowichan Hospice House would be gratefully appreciated.

Meeting and spending time with Greg and Carla were highlights of our last few years… spending a bit of our winter months on the Island we’re even more enjoyable with them… Greg had information he freely shared about his memories of Dauphin and the stories of friendships he shared while growing up… He enjoyed his Wings and Pizza nights at the Pub in Cobble Hill… a haunt we got to became fans of as well… the world was simply a better place with Greg sharing in it…
