Grant Armstrong
November 4, 1940 - April 12, 2016
Tribute
Pancreatic cancer took Grant away from the love of his life Jane, Daughters; Lianne (Terry), Christina, Gillian (Cal), Grandchildren; Brin, Robert, Haylen, Katelyn and Jordan, and was predeceased by his son Mark.
Grant was best known for Haywood Industries, his business of pre-stained cedar siding. In 1986 Grant and Jane moved to Willis Point. For almost 20 years their home was often referred to as the house of loose connections as it was a hive of activity. In 1992 Grant and Jane were married on a merry go round in Monterey, California.
Grant had a passion for great food, fine wines and spirits. His flair for cooking was legendary. From the Boxing Day Chinese Food feasts to the July First family themed dinners, complete with costumes and non-lethal weaponry.
Grants life-long fascination and hobby was trains, street cars, trollies and railways around the world. Well known for his sense humor, he could be outspoken, sometimes incorrigible, but could fill a room with laughter in seconds.
After leaving the Point and a brief time in Sidney they chose Duncan for retirement. Grant took a part time job at a building supply store. They enjoyed the company of many new friends and good neighbors.
We shall raise a glass in toast to Grant and bid him adieu with love.
Our sincere thank you to Dr. Valorie Masuda and the nurses and staff at Cowichan District Hospital for your kindness and caring.
