Tribute
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Peter Gard (Pete) aged 87. Dad left us peacefully in his sleep on August 23, 2017 with family by his side. Pete was predeceased by his wife Helen (Teasdale), infant son Peter Stanley, parents Marion and Augustine (Gus) Gard, and his brothers Eric (Jean) and Don (Shirl) Gard and great grandson Rielly Marchetti.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Kim Fleming (Sandy), Wendy Mitchell (Milt), Peter Gard (Terri Lynn), grandchildren Kelsey and Leanne Fleming, Kirsten Marchetti (Ron) Stacey Mitchell (Rick) and Josh Mitchell, Jess and Chrissy Gard and great grandchildren Adam and Bailey Marchetti, Brayden and Brandon Mitchell.
Born and raised in the Cowichan Valley Pete worked his life in construction. In his youth Pete was involved in many valley sports including basketball. This love of sports continued as he watched all the sports he could on TV, often coaching from the couch! He will be remembered for all he did for each of us and the care and understanding he showed to family and all he met.
Special thanks to the staff at Cairnsmore for the compassionate care they offered Pete and his family during his stay and for making each day a little brighter for him. Thank you as well to Dr. Robinson, (Coleman Clinic).

Our deepest sympathy, we will always remember Pete walking his dog and always smiling and waving whenever we saw him or stopping and chatting never being in a rush. He will be greatly missed.
