Tribute

Gloria YABLONSKI (nee Watkins)

DOB: Dec 11, 1936 in Winnipeg, MB

Died: Mar 29, 2011
Gloria died peacefully in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, with family present.
Gloria was predeceased by her sister Uldine (Brown), her parents the Watkins and by her
son Joseph Paul Yablonski (Aug 15, 1995).
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Thomas Yablonski; children: Gordon, aka Ben, (Carolyn) Yablonski, Heather (Neil Neufeld) and six grandchildren: Bryan (Kyla), Kevin (Breanne) Neufeld; Cari-Lynn, William, Benson Yablonski; Andrew Yablonski (Joey’s son).
Gloria married Joseph Thomas Yablonski on Nov 19, 1955.
While raising three wonderful children, she attended Red River College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Selkirk General Hospital and Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, retiring early due to a work-related back injury.
Gloria enjoyed gardening, and always had a well-kept yard with her favorite flowers; red geraniums. She also kept a large garden, canning her vegetables. Gloria”s relish and pickles were famous. Joe and Gloria ran a large strawberry farm for many years. Family and friends were a big part of Gloria”s life. She loved getting together and making special meals for holidays. There was always joy and love in Gloria”s home.
She and Joe moved to Vancouver Island where she pursued hobby interests: stained glass, wooden basket weaving and jewelry making. Gloria had many talents, showing her work at craft shows with Joe.
Gloria & Joe took up golf, and enjoyed golfing road trips with their RV friends.
Later in life, Gloria had many health problems. She continued to do as much as possible, going out with friends and puttering around the house. Joe and Gloria were very close. She will be sorely missed by all.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Royal Canadian Legion 621 First St. Ladysmith, BC on Saturday April 02, 2011 at 2:30pm. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com
