Tribute

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Glenda after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Predeceased by her parents Margaret (Rita) and Ernie Anderson, her husband Jack and her brother Ron. Glenda is survived by son Sean, daughter Sheryl (Parry), brother John (Barbara), sister Margot and their families, grandchildren Joshua, Katelyn, Matthew and Kyle as well as her five (5) great grandchildren.

Glenda and Jack worked tirelessly for 25 years hosting the Pacific Cup Hockey Tournament. Glenda was also a member, and past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile.

A special thank you to Deanna McGarry. Glenda will be missed by her family, her many friends, her generosity, kind heart and of course for her endless baking and preserves. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 7th at 1:00 pm in the Chief and Petty Officer’s Mess, 1575 Lyall Street in Esquimalt.

Glenda was our friend and good neighbour for many, many years when we lived on Old Esquimalt Rd. She was always willing to help where she could, was a great listener, a super hostess and her neighbours always enjoyed the plate of home made Xmas goodies…..she is loved and will be missed greatly. My sincere condolences to Shawn and family and hope memories of happier times will carry all of you through this sad time.

Glenda will be missed by many, especially since you could not think oh Glenda without savoring her pickles and scones, but especially her shortbread! She really knew how to bake. My husband was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of her wonderful shortbread. She was truly a great and generous lady!

From: Kathryn Whitwell
Relation: Member of Daughter's of the Nile

We will definitely miss Glenda, an amazing, caring and hard working woman. She had a giant heart and was very kind to me.

From: Sandy Pullan
Relation: Friend of the family.

“Auntie Glenda” as I called her was one of my Mom (Peggy)’s good friends. I have known Glenda since I was very young and she and my mom kept in touch over the years, right up until 5 years ago when my mom passed. I also remember going to the Victoria Day parade every year and seeing Uncle Jack riding the clown train with the Shriners. Glenda, Jack and my parents also spent several fun times together out at the “P.O.’s Mess” as they called it. Auntie Glenda was a wonderful lady and I have many fond memories of her from my childhood. My condolences to Sean, Sheryl and family.
