Gladys Johnston
Tribute
Aug 21, 2025
1932-2025
It is with sadness and joy that we announce that our Mum, Nana and Great Nana has gone to be with her Saviour.
She was predeceased by her siblings John, Helen, Ethel and Muriel. Gladys is survived by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Gladys was born in Northern Ireland and came to Canada with her husband and young family in the ‘70s . The Cowichan Valley became their new home, though Ireland called her back for many visits over the years.
We would like to thank the staff at Acadia Ty Mawr for their love, kindness and care for Mum over the last 4 1/2 years.
A service will be held at HW Wallace on Sept 29th at 10am. We encourage you to wear floral to celebrate Gladys’ love of flowers. Also, if you have a story or memory you would like to share with the family, we encourage you to write it out to be placed in a memory book.

Gladys was a true servant of God and lived serving Him and His people. She was a strong prayer warrior and spent many hours praying for God’s people for healing and strength. She had a wonderful gift of listening and truly caring. Gladys will be truly missed. She holds a special place in my heart. My love goes to her whole family. Adriana Van Duyvendyk

Gladys she was a very special Lady , words really can’t even describe how amazing she was.
She was there for everyone.. she was a kind, warm gentle hearted Earth Angel whenever you needed someone to listen there was Gladys…when going through tough times she was there to walk me through them.. When my daughter was struggling with reading .. there she was offering to help her with reading struggles., to this day as I share the passing of Gladys , she reminding me of Gladys helping her with reading. Simple acts of kindness , however with profound impact will NEVER be forgotten. I wish I could have been there for her in her last few years of her life giving back to her, the kind warm gentle care she gave to so many…
Thank you Gladys for being the Earth Angel needed in mine and my kids lives
God Bless you Gladys
