Gilbert “Peewee” “Spot” Sam
March 7, 1941 – October 25, 2010
Predeceased by his Grandparents; Father, Leslie Sam; Daughter,
Christa Martin; 3 Brothers and 1 Sister. Survived by his Mother,
Bertha Sam; siblings Linda Joseph, Rhonda Sam, Joan Sampson,
Stella Sam, Lisa Scott; his children Rosanne Thomas, Leslie Sam,
and Valerie Lopez; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and his
many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
Gilbert lived in Cowichan Bay where he was well known and
welcomed by many in the local and broader community. Gilbert
worked in the logging industry for many years; thereafter preferring
to work outdoors. He loved and played soccer well, loved watching
sports, and enjoyed crabbing in Cowichan Bay. His affable nature
and ready smile will be missed.
The family would like to thank the community members for their
support that gives us strength. Special thanks to the Acadia Lodge
staff for their vigilant and affectionate care of our loved one.
Prayers will be held at St. Ann’s on Tzouhalem Road Duncan, BC
on Thursday October 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Viewing Friday
October 29, 2010 at St. Ann’s from 9-9:30 a.m. followed by a
service at 9:30.
