Tribute

December 1925 – April 2026.

On April 28^th, at the age of 100, our father left us to join mom. We will miss him terribly, but we know he is in a better place.

Dad was born in Langford, grew up on Mt. Matheson in East Sooke, and spent most of his life on southern Vancouver Island. He was a veteran of the RCAF. He married our mom (Doris) in 1945 and celebrated their 78^th anniversary before her passing in 2023.

He was a talented carver, an avid vegetable gardener and beekeeper for years. He looked forward to his annual moose hunt in the interior with his son and hunting partners. He went on his last hunting trip when he was 85. He had a brilliant mind and was involved in many careers. After leaving Ferry Aviation Company where he was involved in the conversion of the Martin Mars water bomber, Dad became self-employed for the rest of his life. He ran an import business while establishing an instrument repair shop in Victoria which he ran for fifteen years. He moved on to finish building a trout hatchery and trout sales company in Sooke for the next five years. He then established a commercial furniture manufacturing and millwork shop in the Cowichan Valley for the next ten years until his retirement at the ripe old age of 75.

Dad and Mom were wonderful loving parents to their three children, Diane Steinmeier (Wilf), Lyle Willson (Wendy), and Marlene Hill (Steve) and loved and enjoyed their many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
