Gary Dyck
Tribute
Gary Dyck passed away on May 30th, 2025, which was also his 29th wedding anniversary with his loving wife, Pauline. He will be deeply missed by many.
He was surrounded by his family, singing Amazing Grace, as he took his first steps into freedom.
Gary’s zest for life and enthusiasm left an impression on everyone he met. If you shared his passions for music, fishing, family, and faith, you were instantly soul mates.
Gary started working hard in his early youth. The manual labour was hard on his body including mill work and painting. In his later years he worked doing security, but it was when he retired that his dream job of organizing music groups and volunteering at the local radio – where he thrived. His booming voice found the ideal outlet and he shared his love for gospel music and Christ.
Gary spent countless hours sharing his love of the outdoors and fishing with his sons, Lance and John; the day before Gary left his limiting body, he was reminiscing of his favorite trip kayaking with the boys through the Broken Group saying, “I want to do that again”. Gary’s dreams lived in those precious moments; his imagination was never limited by his body’s inabilities.
Papa loved fishing with his grandchildren — Hunter, Shania, Cody, Colten, Quinnten, Brayden, Preston, Jamisen, and Karissa, Xavier, Skyler & Robin. Each one of them will think of their Papa every time they put a worm on a hook. Gary’s favourite spot was on the Vedder River, but his honey hole is still a mystery to those who aren’t his children and grandchildren.
Gary will be deeply missed by his brother Allen and his sister Maralyn, but they take comfort in knowing he is rejoicing being reunited with Lorraine, Robin, and many other cherished friends and loved ones.
Gary will also be missed by his stepchildren Charlene, Gerry (Crystal) and Cheryl. Each one of them are grateful for the love he had for their mom and the many adventures Gary took their mother on, a road trip to Canada’s North, an Alaskan Cruise, and Mexican cruise. They had many fun years finding adventures in their camper with friends.
Gary wanted everyone to experience the love and grace he received from his Saviour, Jesus Christ. Because of his faith, he welcomed death — and his family and friends hold the promise that they will see him again.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of Cairnsmore Place for their wonderful care of Gary.
A memorial will be held on July 5th at 2:00 PM at Warmland Church in Crofton.
