Tribute

“BAM” you will be missed for eternity”

Gail (Bam) Elliott

Gail (Bam) Elliott of Duncan, B.C. born on August 10th 1941 passed away peacefully at home on March 2nd, at the age of 78. Gail is survived by her children, Dean (Sharon), Cory, Kelley and Evie (Roy), 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

Gail was lovingly known as “Bam” by those who knew and loved her. Bam was a name given to her by her granddaughter Emma. Emma and her Bam had a very special relationship and did everything together. Emma will miss her Bam beyond words.

Gail was born on Lasqueti Island, British Columbia, the youngest of 11 children. As a young girl she moved to Sechelt, B.C. where she attended Elphinstone Secondary School and afterwards moved with her parents John and Emma Whyte to Duncan where she continued to live throughout her life.

Gail worked in Geriatrics for decades at the Ladysmith General Hospital and she will be missed by the friends she made during that time. The friendships formed there resulted in “The Old Girls Luncheon” where the women who worked there maintained their connections with a lunch every month that continues today.

It was during nursing school that Gail made two of her closest friendships with Elaine Pacholuk and Karen Tucker. Gail and Elaine were like sisters and they shared many trips together and were planning another one for this summer to Whitehorse to visit more of Gail’s family. Gail’s longest friendship was with Arlene Cotterill that spanned over 58 years and remained constant throughout that time. Arlene, we know a part of you is missing, forever and our hearts go out to you.

Gail’s greatest love was her family and her close friendships. We would like to give a special thank you to Brian Jackman of Kiwanis Village in Duncan for being our mom’s hero on many occasions.

There will be a Memorial Tea at Kiwanis Village 750 Trunk Rd, Duncan, B.C. on Wed, March 25th in the main room between 1:00 – 4:00 for anyone who would like to attend.
