Evelyn Jewel McCloy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Evelyn Jewel McCloy, March 16, 2011, at Cairnsmore Care Facility, Duncan, BC. Mom was born in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan on July 25, 1925. Predeceased by her loving husband, Vincent, sister’s Ivy, Elsie, Doris and brothers Ken Ed and son-in-law Rudy Wince. She leaves to mourn her children, Pam McCloy of Edmonton, Debi Wince of Duncan, Tim and Kim McCloy of Black Creek, Joel and Lacey McCloy of Lake Cowichan, nine grandchildren, Tami, Tara, Kyla, Ryan, Devon, Chloe, Jesse, Nikki, Max, and 13 great-grandchildren, brothers Rex and June McConnell of Hope and Marvin and Donna McConnell of Calgary. She will be lovingly remembered by many other close family members and friends. Mom, affectionately known as Nana, devoted her life to her family. She loved to entertain and was always ready to play some honky-tonk piano tunes and encouraged everyone to sing along. Mom was an active member of Eastern Star and loved all kinds of crafts, leaving behind many cherished mementos. Each and every grandchild will remember Nana’s endless supply of candies and treats, and most of all her warm hugs. Her middle name Jewel best describes how we all felt about her, she was priceless. Thanks to the nursing staff at Carinsmore Care Facility, with a special thanks to Ron Marchetti (Ronny) for his constant devotion to our mom. A memorial service will be held at Duncan United Church 246 Ingram St. Duncan, BC on Tuesday March 22, 2011 at 1:00p.m.with reception to follow in the Heritage Hall. I will miss seeing your Mom’s happy face and bright personality when I do my few visits. During the renovations there, I saw her bright eyed, and full of wit and vigour at the different games we did. During my tea time there, I always loved to share a joke or two and enjoyed her smile and sense of humour. I missed the service as I was away on Tuesday. Please accept my condelences. Maggie
