Ethel Illa Hanson (Moore)

June 15, 1927 - January 1, 2015

Tribute

The family of Ethel Hanson sadly announces her passing on January 1, 2015 at 87 years of age. She was pre-deceased in 1983 by her husband, Harold. She is survived by two brothers who were proud to call her their sister, George Moore from Campbell River and Bruce Moore from Nanaimo; son Dale (Leslie) Hanson from Kimberley, grandchildren: Gina, Kyle, James; daughter Dian (Dan) Stinn of Crofton; brother-in-laws: John (Donna Lee) of Ladysmith and Walter from Calgary; sister-in-laws: Sophie (Demps), Edith and Janet; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Thank you to Mom’s many friends and neighbours who helped her so much over the years. Thanks also to Dr. Postuk, the staff at Nana’s House in Lake Cowichan, the BC Ambulance crews who helped so many times over the years and most recently the Hospice volunteers who sat with Mom during the night so we could rest and know she was not alone. Thank you Nicki for your many visits with Mom and giving her “the giggles”. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff & volunteers at Sunridge Place where Mom lived the last 5 years. There are so many names but I won’t mention any for fear of leaving someone out.  She was a great Mom and special lady; we will miss her a lot. Please join us for a celebration of Ethel’s life 1:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2015 at H.W. Wallace 5285 Polkey Road in Duncan. If you care to share any stories we would love to hear them. Refreshments will be served after the memorial. In lieu of flowers, any donations may go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Cowichan Valley Hospice Society.

Our deepest sympathy to all our island family, especially Dian and Dale. Dian, I hope you find comfort in knowing that you were a loving and caring daughter who was always there for her Mom. We will always remember Auntie Ethel’s smiles, laughter, generous heart and how she loved to have us “come to her house for dinner”. Thinking of you all.

From: Kim, Larry, Stacy & Robyn Omelchuk
Relation: I am Ethel's niece

Sending you all our deepest condolences, on the loss of your dear Mom. We will all remember her with fondness, recalling visits we had with her and the fun stories our mother shared with us of their younger years. We will be thinking of you and wishing you comfort during this difficult time.
