E. Randy Blaney

Date of Death: January 14, 2023

Tribute

At age 72, after the recent traumatic loss of his son Bret, and then his mom, Phyllis, Randy’s declining health further deteriorated and he passed away on January 14, 2023.

Randy was born in Victoria, BC and after graduating from Oak Bay High, he had a 35-year career in Public Service.  He retired to the Cowichan Valley from Sidney, BC, where his family was raised.

In retirement, he enjoyed being with his beloved grandchildren, working on his project car and part-time work, particularly his last job driving for Budget Duncan.

Randy leaves behind a loving immediate family, a large extended family, long-time friends, including past and present co-workers.

He will be so dearly missed.

I was devastated to hear the news. Randy and I had a special connection as cousins. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor. We never seen each other very often, but when we got together, it was just like no time had passed. He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to his wife and daughter, whom he greatly loved. Resp in Peace my friend.

We are shocked and sad of Randys passing. I am thinking about and remembering the times spent with Randy in his late teens and early 20s and our mutual love of cars and bikes. Unfortunately we lost track of him over the years. Always a great guy. Thanks for the memories!

From: Herb Magee
Relation: Friends through high school.

I was shocked to hear of Randy’s passing. He and became close friends in our late teens while attending Oak Bay High and into our early twenties. Life got in the way and we lost contact with each other. He will be missed.

From: M. Naylor

From first meeting the Blaneys over four decades ago they always made us feel welcome. What I always remember about Randy was his positive attitude. Only one time on a bad health day did I hear him down. That is such a nice legacy to have family and friends remember. Wanting to express my sympathy and love today.
