Douglas Ford
April 26, 1950 - July 13, 2021
Tribute
With great sorrow and broken hearts, we received the news that our beloved father and dear grandpa Doug had lost his battle to cancer on July 13, 2021.
Doug moved here from Ontario to be closer to his family on the west coast in 1993. He was a kindred and energetic spirit with nothing but fun on his mind. He liked to sit around the table with friends and family and talk about all his past experiences. There wasn’t a day that went by that he wouldn’t reminisce of the times he had with his beloved brother Bill. In his later years, he was surrounded by the people of whom he held dear to his heart. When he received the news, he took it on as if he was going to knock it out of the park like he did everything else in his life. As the years progressed, he decided to fight even harder to show everyone how valuable life is. He truly was someone to look up to.
Doug never had an issue with letting someone into his life and treating them like family as if he had known them for years. Doug’s main goal in life was for everyone to have him in their hearts and souls forever. He was an ambitious spirit and his heart was full of love for his three little girls, Candice (Jerry), Krystal (Mike), and Alannah (Ken) and all his sweet grand babies, Jacob, Jackson, Owen, Nathan, Taylor, Lacey, Lincoln, and Lyla.
He will forever be in our hearts and so dearly missed now and for eternity; the universe has lost a real-life champion, however, he has finally made it to his family that’s long past and we know that they are all celebrating together. Predeceased by his mother, Eileen Fitzmaurice, his father, Alexander Ford, and his siblings William Ford, John Ford and Beverly McAllister. Not a day will go by that we won’t think about the numerous ways that he has touched our lives.
Thank you to the nurses and staff at the Cowichan Hospice House who had so much patience and took such wonderful care of our dad. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Cowichan Hospice House. www.cowichanhospice.org

To Candace and Krystal: I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your father. His daughters have written a beautiful, moving and inspiring tribute. It sounds like your dad was a very special person. Although I haven’t met Alannah, I send her my condolences as well. I hope you will be consoled by the knowledge that he has left his pain and suffering behind and will now know only the joy of the spiritual world.

Heart felt condolences to family and friends. I met Doug and Michelle many years ago when we all worked for Graham Fiberglass. That was a very memorable part of my life and a large part of it was meeting Doug and Michelle. Kind, inclusive and welcoming from the moment we met. Doug was the polar opposite of my quiet and introverted self, which is why I fell in love with that rogue immediately. I regret never crossing paths after those unique times ended. Rest in peace, my old friend.
