Donna Fawthorpe (nee Rhoades)

July 17, 1960 - September 26, 2011

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donna
Marie Fawthorpe (nee Rhoades) on September 26, 2011.
Born July 17, 1960, Donna is predeceased by her sister Ellen, and survived by her
husband Mark of 29 years, her son Don (Lyndsay), her mother and father Olga and
Don Rhoades, her brother Duncan Rhoades (Donalda), nieces Courtney and Sydney,
and many close aunts, uncles and cousins. Donna will always be remembered as a
courageous, upbeat and positive example of love and selflessness in the face of many
health adversities. Her love of family above all else, her boundless generosity, her
joyfulness in holiday celebrations, and her sunny personality, brightened the lives of
not only her family but the wide community of friends for whom she cared most deeply.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1625 Shawnigan/Mill Bay Road on Tuesday October 4, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com

From: Sandy Wentzell
Relation: Friend

My heart is saddened with the loss of such a beautiful woman. Donna was a joy to be around as she was always smiling no matter how she felt. She was such a kind, loving, generous person and God will welcome her home. We will miss her terribly.

From: Jacqueline Walisser
Relation: Cousin

I read the news about Donna just before starting out 6th day on the bike [from Saltzburg, Austria to Prague, Czech Republic). I thought about Donna all day and told Paul about her and my memories of
Shawnigan Lake. We travelled over the Czech countryside on a beautiful fall day and I could not help but think that Donna will be ok. There are a lot of people who love her that are waiting for her, wherever one goes after this life is over. She will be ok. Have seen lots of geraniums and dahlias on this trip…reminds me of my mom…she is up there ready to take care of Donna.

I’m so sorry for this tragedy…it must be hard to understand. I wish I
could be there with you, my favourite Aunt and Uncle.

Love Jacqueline

I’m so sorry to hear the news of Donna. This is so sudden. I can recall her laugh so clearly from when we all gathered to enjoy a family dinner this summer. So sad.

My heart and thoughts are with you Olga, Don, Duncan, Mark and Donald.

Dear Don, Olga, Mark and Don:
Bill and I wish to express our regret and sorrow on hearing of Donna’s death. We are sorry we were away when all this happened and not able to say this in person.
She was always in good spirits when she came to pick up her raspberries or blue berries or her favorite syrups even though she had many challenges. She was so fortunate to have a loving family to stand with her. We will always remember her with kind thoughts.
Our hearts go out to you to share your loss.

Bill and Jeanne Aten
