Dillget (Jeto) Kour Gill

August 11, 1928 - February 27, 2024

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Dillget K. Gill. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, predeceased by husband Victor Gill and son Garry Gill, great grandson Caleb Gill, as well as other family and extended family members.. Mom grew up in Victoria where she met and married Dad in 1945. They then moved to Lake Cowichan in 1953 where they raised their family. Mom was the best baker; cook, knitter, gardener, and hostess. Her famous shortbread cookies and hamburger casserole were fan favorites. As well, every grandchild received a personal hand knit gift at birth. Mom also enjoyed attending various functions at many of the Sikh Temples.
In the mid-sixties Mom worked at the Mary Moore Long Term Care Home in Cobble Hill and later at the Kings Daughter Hospital in Duncan where she made numerous lifelong friends.
Mom enjoyed travelling, her and Dad went to India, England and many family vacations with their children and grandchildren.
In 2016 Mom moved from her home to the Meadows due to health reasons and then in 2019 she was transferred to Cairnsmore Place where she received wonderful care and attention from the staff. Our Mom had the sweetest soul and will be greatly missed by her son Chan (Sandy), Kelvin, daughter Sharon (Duck), daughter-in-law Heather, sister’s Bunty & Pudgy and sister-in-law Gurdev. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Cairnsmore Place for their incredible and compassionate care of our Mother for the past 5 years.
Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed. We love you Mom.
Private Family Cremation. A prayer service (Bhog) will be held at the Paldi Sikh Temple on March 31, 2024 at 10:30 am, lunch to follow.

I am so sorry for your loss of Jeto.
My mom, Doreen and Jeto grew up in Victoria together.
Jeto was mom‘s longest friend ever and her best friend ever.
Mom really loved Jeto. I was always hoping that mom and Jeto would end up in the same care home, however, that did not happen.
I’m so grateful for their many years together and their special friendship that bonded them together.
Jeto was a very special lady and will be ever remembered in your hearts and lives by all the great memories.
She always had such a great smile.
The Last few times that I saw Jeto, she was knitting.
Keep those great memories going, by telling stories of her often.
Luv Sharon Court
