Dev Kumar Parmar

August 20, 1968 - December 1, 2021

Tribute

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Dev Kumar Parmar on December 1, 2021 at the age of 53 years.

When he departed, Dev was fully wrapped in the loving arms of his family.

Dev was precious and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was an honourable, generous, protective, and loving son, brother,
uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He is survived by his parents, Amrik and Balinder, and his sisters, Angela (Rajinder), Neelam (Jonny), nephews,
Aaron and Raman, and numerous relatives and friends. Dev is predeceased by his younger brother, Anoop, who passed away earlier this
year on April 28, 2021.

Born on August 20, 1968, at the Cowichan District Hospital, Dev was the second oldest of four children. He graduated from Cowichan Secondary
School in 1986. During high school, he was a natural leader who fully immersed himself in school sports, clubs, social events, and worked at
Romeo’s Pizza. After graduation, Dev moved to Vancouver and went to UBC. He became a serial entrepreneur in 1991 with Mint Cards and
Blueline Sports. He then expanded his interests to Eye To Eye Opticians, Optical Outlet, Factory Optical, and D & D Optical. Dev also made his
mark in Real Estate and absolutely crushed it.

Dev excelled at everything he did. He was passionate about sports and played any and every sport he could. No matter how busy life was, Dev
always made time to work out, play hockey, basketball, baseball, soccer, and ping pong. His world was his family, his friends, his businesses, and
being active. He was his own man, what you see is what you get. He wore his heart on his sleeve and had a genuine love of life. Dev loved animals
and was blessed with his two beautiful dogs, Jake and Sophie. His love and care of them was second to none. He was a force of nature and a
strong competitor whether it was in business or when he was playing sports. He had a larger than life presence. Dev was full of wisdom and
readily shared his life lessons. He was a natural at solving problems and a bottom liner. There was no problem too big for him. He was a
Renaissance man, adept at learning new skills to pass through any specific hurdle or challenge.

Those who knew Dev, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He affected numerous people in his lifetime. Dev was always willing to help
others and asked for nothing in return. He was ready and willing at a moment’s notice. We are eternally thankful that we had him in our lives
and continue to remember him as the extraordinary guy that he was. Dev had so much goodness and so much capacity to bring happiness to others.
He forever lives in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. It’s a love shared that will never fade away. The world is a lesser place without
him. Dev will always be by our side.

A celebration of Dev’s life will be held at New Life Community Baptist Church at 1839 Tzouhalem Road on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11 a.m.

Doors open at 10 a.m.

The service is followed by prayers and lunch at the Paldi Sikh Temple at 23 Paldi Road.

Sincere condolences to the Parmar family. I have fond memories of Dev’s kind and enterprising spirit and the great fun we had in high school. That of course had not changed when I saw him at our last reunion. Sending you strength and peace from the Grewal family.

So sadden by this news. You were always there when we needed you. Can’t believe you were taken by god by an aneurysm. We always joked it would be something else. May you Rest In Peace
