Tribute

BODARD, DAYMON MAURICE
April 10, 1953 – July 24, 2010
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our
beloved Daymon after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pre-deceased by his parents Joan and Gene, Daymon
will be sorely missed and forever held in the hearts of his
wife Tricia, sister Joanne (Jo) Bodard (Jack Abercrombie),
in-laws Gord and Shirli Collinge, sister-in-law Tamara,
numerous friends and family, and of course their fur balls
Max and Bliss.
Born and raised in Nelson, B.C., Daymon (“Bodey”) will
be best remembered for his passion for classic cars.
The family extends our sincerest thanks and appreciation
to Dr. Murray Woods for his wonderful care and support.
Daymon’s wishes for cremation and no service will be
respected. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory
can be made to his favourite charity, the SPCA.

H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre Staff send our condolences to family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Joanne:
I was so sorry to learn of the passing of your brother, Daymon. My sister, Nancy, who was a school chum of Daymon’s had told me several weeks back that he was in palliative care in Duncan. She had wondered why he would be in Duncan, and I was able to tell her that you live in the Cowichan Valley.
My sympathy to you at this very, very sad time. It must be so painful to lose your only sibling.
You are in my thoughts and I would be so pleased to hear from you.

Hugs
Mary Louise

Tricia- I was friends with Daymon in junior high. He was so much fun, we used to yap during class and get in trouble together. Then when we were in Grade 11 Daymon introduced me to his friend Randy who I ended up going out with for 6 1/2 years and marrying. We were married for 30 years thanks to Daymon. Randy and Daymon were car buddies, they both had the Chevs and they went to Wasa together to the drag races. Daymon and Randy hadn’t seen each other for years. In 1977 Randy was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophogeal cancer and passed away in June 2008. I was so shocked to hear that a little later Daymon was diagnosed with cancer. I feel great comfort to know that those 2 are together now, probably talking about all the cars they shouldn’t have sold! I know exactly how you feel losing the love of your life. If you ever want to talk, I’m here in Nelson and you have my e-mail address. Take care.

Joanne; I made a toast to my oldest friend at our LVR reunion last week. My heart hurts for Daymon and I’ll miss him always. My sincerest condolences to you. Gerry

Trish; My deepest sympathy to you at this time. In a speech at our reunion, I used Daymon’s memory as the closing for everyone to remember a loved one that each person there may have lost and put that name in place for a toast. Mine was to Daymon as were many others in attendance.

Relation: Friend

I am so sorry! Obviously, I have known he was ill since last fall. Since he was not answering the phone, I had sent him several emails just the past 2 months inquiring about how he was feeling but never received a response. I only wish someone had told me so I could have come visited him. It is very sad.

Daymon was a good guy and great travel companion. Whenever we went somewhere he was always certain to make sure that I did not forget my Epi-pen and, to reinforce my food allergy concerns to the wait staff when we went out to eat. He had a true soft spot which often belied his business-like demeanor.

Daymon and I tried so hard to make Nova Energy a success. He so wanted to make certain that his beloved wife, Tricia, would never have to worry about her financial well-being. Unfortunately, it seemed that the universe conspired against us at every turn.

If there was a husband who bragged about his wife more than Daymon, I have never met him. Daymon would tell people we had just met at business meetings what a lucky guy he was to have such a wife.

Please accept my condolences. I will miss him

To Tricia, Jo and families, we send our heartfelt condolences on Daymons passing. I (Pat) spent many happy times with Bodie in our younger days and will always remember him with fondness. We will both remember him always and are terribly sorry for your loss.

From: Jo Bodard
Relation: Sister

Daymon was my brother and my only sibling. I loved him and while we did not live our lives in one-another’s pockets we were always there for each other. I miss him.

Tricia, I promised him I would look after you for him and I am enjoying our growing friendship. Always remember you were the best thing that ever happened to him.

Gord, Shirli, and Tamara, thank you for being his family and for all your support through his illness and passing.

To those of you who have sent condolences, thank you. I have enjoyed reading your remembrances of Daymon and appreciate your sharing his loss. For many of you he was known as Bodie, for me he will always be DB. Love you, DB.
