David Gordon Lee

December 17, 1953 - December 5, 2023

Tribute

David was born in Kingston, Ontario on Thursday, December 17, 1953, to mother Beverley and father Gordon Lee. Pre-deceased by parents and sister Donna and left to grieve, wife Lynda, sister Susan, sons Todd (Jade) and Rory, daughter Sarah, grandchildren Gabrielle, Rylend, Orson and Chloe, great aunties Lynn (Bryon), Taffy (Cameron), and Judy, man’s best friend Chief and many cousins and good friends.

Growing up in the Kingston Mills area David learned how to fish, hunt and be one with nature at a young age. Listening to far reaching radio stations at night with headphones and radio fashioned by his electrician dad, his love of music was embedded. Teaching himself to play guitar from songs on the radio and records was another of David’s first loves. Riding on the back of best friend Peter’s motorcycle on camping trips sealed the deal for David always having one of his own to ride throughout his lifetime.

Moving his young family and all possessions in a Jeep truck to Vancouver Island, Dave worked in forestry and at Doman’s then began fishing out of Cowichan Bay to support his family for many years. Following a few years mapping creeks and streams and restoring salmon habitat in the Cowichan water basin everything then went to the dogs. David loved every dog he met and they loved him back equally. Establishing a business to care for dogs when their owners were away was a rewarding life for Dave that gave him opportunity to play with dogs, play guitars, ride motorcycles and meet so many wonderful people. Kindness, generosity, loyalty and respect are the values he shared with everyone he encountered and he is sorely missed by many.

The family acknowledges with sincere appreciation the many comforting messages, prayers, and other expression of kindness that have been received during this difficult time. No service will be held. In David’s memory please consider making a donation to Diabetes Canada.

Lynda – I am very sorry to hear David’s bad news broken to me on phone. He was a very passionate, energetic, pleasant, hardworking, caring and trustworthy friend. He had invited me to fish with him several times in Duncan. He will be remembered by all his friends forever. All our friends share sadness with you. May he rest in peace. Please take care of yourself and wish you all the best when you will be walking alone.

This is a lovely tribute to Dave, a kind and loving family man. He loved his music, his bikes, his dogs and his customers’ dogs. But anyone could see, mostly, he loved you all, his family. You will always be in his heart as he is in yours. Ken and I send you all our love and condolences.

We are absolutely shocked and saddened to hear that Dave is no longer with us. He was such a vital person. It was always a good feeling to know that our dogs were safe and happy at your house. We enjoyed our lengthy chats at pickup time and our chance visits at Coffee on the Moon. We will miss Dave and so will our little Lily. Much sympathy to all of the family.

We were all very sad to hear of Dave’s passing. I know there are many dogs on the other side who are having a happy reunion with him, including Remy who so loved the time he got to spend with Dave and Lynda at their place in paradise.
