Daniel Isaachsen

May 22, 1947 - January 14, 2017

Tribute

We sadly announce the sudden passing of Daniel Isaachsen on January 14, 2017. Dan was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1947. He grew up on the family farm in Canwood, Saskatchewan with his parents Erling and Nannie and his five sisters. At the age of 19, he moved to BC where he worked in Honeymoon Bay and then spent 35 years as a crane operator and then a power engineer at the Youbou sawmill until it closed in 2001.

Dan's passion was sports. He loved hockey and spent many years in the baseball community as a well-known fastball pitcher and umpire.

Married for 41 years, Dan will be mourned by his wife Joan, his son Jeff (Genny) and daughters Tammy and Erin. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Hayley and Megan Isaachsen and Makenna and Declan Forcier. He is survived by three sisters, Doreen, Louise and Judy and was predeceased by his sisters Betty and Shirley. Dan was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A casual Memorial Tea will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, BC. Please bring your memories and stories to share.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, #4 – 466 Trans Canada Hwy, Duncan, BC V9L 3R6.

Dear Joan,
We have so many great memories of Danny pitching at so many ball games. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Take care.

Relation: Poker at the Elks Club

The Elks’ Thursday night poker will not be the same without Dan. He was always a threat at the table. He often arrived early and would be sitting on the top steps talking sports or bad beats with the “boys”. I would tease him about his immaculately clean, white shoes…obviously saved only to wear to Poker! We will miss him; always respectful and one of the good guys.
