Tribute
Cynthia Constance Cable, aged 97, passed away peacefully, January 16, 2018. She was born in London England, August 18, 1920, the only daughter of Ernest and Olive Hodge (nee Hancock). Cynthia, known as Babs to friends and family, loved her rose gardens, reading, watching sports, making preserves and having a “cuppa” with friends. She was a librarian until the Second World War when she took a factory position to support the war effort. Cynthia met the dashing Canadian soldier, Leonard Avery Cable from Canada and married March 1st, 1945 in Epsom, England. Following the war in 1946, she emigrated to Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, where she was introduced to Len`s large family. Later they moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where Len worked for Saskatchewan Government Telephones (SaskTel). This is where they raised a warm and loving family. Babs and Len retired to Duncan B.C. to enjoy a long and fruitful retirement, celebrating over 71 years together. Cynthia is survived by her two sons Terry L. Cable and David M. Cable (Carol), grandchildren Heather Cable, Raymond Cable (Tarynne), Sarah Baete (Trevor) and granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Edmiston. She also leaves behind her great grand children, Hudson and Asher Baete. Cynthia was predeceased by her infant son, Glen, her husband, Leonard, daughter-in-law Glenda and grandson Scott. Cynthia was supported by wonderful, loving neighbours, Sue Murray and Chris and Marcia Resch. She will be remembered for being a loving, generous and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and neighbour. Her laughter, wisdom and quiet courage will be missed.
