Colin Manfred Taylor
March 5, 1960 - October 23, 2022
Tribute
It is with deep sadness that the family of Colin Taylor announces his passing at the age of 62, on October 23, 2022. He will be forever missed and loved.
Colin was predeceased by his parents Danny and Corrine Taylor and his twin brother Kevin. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Brad (Pat) and Rick Taylor and his sister Kathy (Len) Goodman. Colin also leaves behind his nephews Mike (Shannon), Chris (Giselle) Hearsey, and his niece Marnie (Kurt) Powers and their families, along with his extended Goodman family.
Colin enjoyed his early years living in Duncan and spending time with his family and his many friends from school. He was especially close to his twin brother Kevin and when Colin had to move to Victoria in order to get more specialized care for his Cerebral Palsy, Kevin was still there to help in any way he could and spent many Christmas mornings driving the Malahat to bring Colin home for the day.
Colin’s first home in Victoria was in James Bay where he had his own apartment for many years. He liked to roam around in his motorized wheelchair and would spend time with Cory and the crew at the James Bay Fire Station or hop on the city bus and tour around the downtown area. Wherever he went he made friends. His next move was to Saanich and Nigel Place for a couple of years and finally to Langford and Luxton House where he was the happiest.
Over the years Colin had many caregivers that we can’t thank enough for their kindness and special attention given to Colin, and he formed some very strong friendships. We can’t name them all but two stand out. During his years in James Bay, one of his caregivers was Gary, with whom he developed a very special bond and friendship. During his last years at Luxton House, Sarah became his caregiver and friend. For her friendship and professional care during his final years and days, the family is forever grateful. Colin had many health challenges over the years and he fought a long hard battle until the very end.
There will be no service, as per Colin’s request, however the family will have a private gathering to spread his ashes and reunite him with Mom, Dad and Kevin.
Rest in peace Colin
