Clifford Mattin

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clifford, better known as Pete or Grumpy. Pete’s passing was sudden and peaceful. Pete was born to pioneer family, and lived here all of his life. Pete was a WWII veteran as a gunner for the Navy and this took him all around the world. After the war he had a taxi business and later went into logging, owning his own logging truck. Predeceased by his stepson David Mattin, parents Harry and Mabel Mattin, sister Bonnie Klettke and brother Ronnie Mattin. Survived by his loving wife Carol of 60 years, son Rick (Brenda) Mattin, grandchildren Tammy, Sean and Gary, great grandchildren Jordan, Austin and Logan as well as numerous Nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank the Cowichan District Hospital Emergency staff and the Hospice Society involved in Pete’s care. Family and friends are invited for an open house Celebration of Pete’s Life at the Moose Lodge, 2244 Moose Road, Duncan BC on Saturday February 7, 2009 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.  Donations in Pete’s memory may be made to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, 4-466 Trans Canada Highway, Duncan BC V9L 3R6 or the Cowichan Valley Hospice Society, 3122 Gibbins Road, Duncan BC V9L 1G2.

Dear Rick and Brenda.
We were sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I know he was getting on and not in very good health. It is really hard to loose a parent for any reason. God Bless. as ever, Diane and Bert
