Tribute

Christopher Allan Sharp (June 4,1971- Sept. 30, 2018)

On September 30th, 2018 our beloved Christopher lost his battle with mental illness.

Christopher is survived by his sons Quinn Timber and Sterling Allen Winter.  He is also survived by his mother Marrianna Westinghouse (George), his father Clyde Sharp (Golriz), his siblings Sandra, Tina, Laurel, Pamela, and Eli, and his former partner and loving mother of his sons Devon Gillott and his son’s half-brother Jasper.

Christopher was raised in Castlegar where he graduated from Stanley Humphries High School.  He furthered his education to obtain an IT diploma and Licensed Practical Nurse certification.  He settled in Duncan, BC with his family.

Christopher is immensely missed by his family and friends for his remarkable personality, compassionate nature, kindness, caring, joy of life, playfulness, and sense of humour.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday Oct. 13 at the New Life Baptist Church 1839 Tzouhalem Rd, Duncan, BC V9L 5L6 followed by a reception for family and friends.

In lieu of sending flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association BC Division in memory of Christopher.

From: Sandra Barton
Relation: I am cousin to Devon and the boys

You were so loved and one of the nicest men I’ve ever met. So kind and gentle and spontaneous with a smile. I feel privileged to have met you and I watched you with your sons. The love shone from your eyes for them. I know you suffered silently within, but never showed it. We will miss you Chris and I hope you have found peace now. May your family find their own peace in time and may all the good memories help them in their grieving.

From: Julie Gibler
Relation: Chris was a former nursing student of mine at VIU.

Chris was in my Pathophysiology class in the nursing program at VIU for two semesters and ultimately we’d become colleagues and friends over time. When he was looking for furniture for his new place, he purchased a desk from me that I no longer needed. His mother and step father live only steps from me in Parksville; and whenever I saw Marianne, she would give me updates on Chris’s new work, life in Duncan and about his kids. His profession and extended network of other nurses will miss his perspectives and kind nature. I wish his family the comfort of family and friends at this very sad time. My deepest condolences to all of you.

From: Sharlyn Richardson
Relation: Friend and Colleague

My family and I were deeply saddened to hear about Chris’s passing. He was an amazing friend, classmate and nursing colleague. His dedication to the practice of caring was inspiring and evident for all who were privileged to know him. He had a nack for creating smiles wherever he went and I will cherish our many fun times together. Chris was a wonderful father, and his love and devotion to his boys was truly moving. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of loss and we wish you comfort in your grief. To our dear friend Chris, we hope you found the peace you were searching for…we will remember you always.

From: Christina Rowsell
Relation: Friend

My condolences to your family. I went to school in Castlegar with Chris and he graduated in my brother’s class who passed away many years ago now. No words to express our sadness at this time. Sending loving thoughts at this time to his family and friends.

From: Carla Knipe
Relation: friend from high school

I am so sad to hear this news. Although we lost touch after high school in Castlegar, I always wondered where he ended up and wished our paths would cross again. He encouraged me so much in school where I had a tough time, and he made me laugh when no one else could. He was a genuine soul and I considered him a true friend. I know what the struggle with mental illness is like and I am still susceptible to it even now. I just wish that I had the chance to encourage him like he encouraged me. I will never forget him or the kindness he showed.

Relation: Co worker

I worked with Chris. He was an energetic soul. Heartbreaking that he suffered in silence. He will be missed.

From: Shari Stone (Gollner)
Relation: Cousin

Our condolences to all the Sharp families. Rest In Peace Christoper.

From: Ron Thiessen.
Relation: Friend/co-worker

I had the pleasure of working with Christopher when he lived in Rossland. He was a quality individual and I never met anyone who did not like him. His magnetic personality and million dollar smile made people want to be around him. People come and go but very few made such a positive and lasting impression at Ferraro Foods the way Chris did. Family was very important to Christopher and he spoke of this often. With that being said I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to the the Sharpe family during this tremendously difficult time.

From: John Eggleton
Relation: former teacher, friend.

Immensely saddened by this news; I enjoyed an early, animated relationship with Christopher; beginning in kindergarten where he romped and laughed during our gym classes. He forever would put a smile on my face. He was a gift to us all. Sincere condolences to he most caring sister, Sandra and family.

From: Wendy and Ross Rowe
Relation: Neighbour of Marrianne and George

Dear Marrianna and George,
We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May the support and love of family and friends be a great comfort to you now.
Love, Ross and Wendy Rowe
