Cathy Louise Larmand (Marentette)

Catherine Larmand of Duncan, BC, died peacefully at home on June 30, 2016. Cathy was born in Windsor, Ontario, to the late Alvin and Eleanor Marentette. She is survived by her siblings Anne Marie Wilson Grossett (Richard), Susan Sargant (John), and Danny Marentette (Carole), and was predeceased by her bother Chris in Nov 2000.Cathy was deeply loved by many nieces and nephews in the Larmand and Marentette families.She attended Brennan High School and St. Clair College in Windsor, graduating as an animal health technician. Cathy completed her BA in Feb of 2004.She worked at the Prevost Veterinary Clinic in Duncan for many years and the staff became another family to Cathy.Even after her diagnosis and treatment for cancer, she earned her Masters of Educational Technology from UBC in Nov 2014, an amazing accomplishment, and she celebrated her first ever graduation ceremony. Cathy's friends and family are profoundly thankful for the round-the-clock care and devotion given to Cathy by her sister-in-law, Fran Larmand. Fran's grace and strength offered both encouragement and peace to us all as we endeavoured to be a presence in Cathy’s journey.We would also like to acknowledge Cathy's health care team for their tireless care and compassion. We are forever grateful.Cathy was remembered in a traditional Roman Catholic funeral held at St. Edward’s Church in Duncan, BC, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She will be interred in Erie Cemetery in Wheatley, Ontario, with other members of her family.If you are moved to make a donation in Cathy’s memory, her favourite charity was the Cowichan SPCA. Our lives will be fuller because we shared your moment, Cathy. We will love you forever and always. Godspeed, until we meet again.

Thank you to everyone in Aunt Cathy’s BC family including her dear friends. She was so well loved and cared for by you. She was a remarkable woman-loved by so many and will be missed dearly. Thank you also for taking care of my mom, Anne on all of her visits and this, the most difficult one. Thank you. Rest in peace Aunt Cathy-enjoy some black licorice and walks on the beaches of heaven with Grandpa.
