Tribute
Carolyn passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital on the morning of August 16th, 2025.
Carolyn was born at King’s Daughters’ Hospital on May 9, 1947 and spent most of her childhood living on Third street in Duncan close to extended family. She married Ken in 1968 and they built a house in Cowichan Bay where they raised their three children. She went back to school in her early 40s to become a teacher and worked for many years as a teacher on call. After their children left home, Ken and Carolyn moved closer to Duncan. Carolyn enjoyed traveling with many trips around Canada and the US as well as the UK.
She is predeceased by her parents Yvonne and Gerald Littlejohn, step mother Freda, brothers Fred and Peter Littlejohn as well as aunts and uncles and other extended family including Muriel Bonsall.
She is survived by her loving husband Ken, sons Todd (Diane) and Paul (Pippa), daughter Suzanne (Nick), sister Sylvia (David), sister in law Dianne (Alfred), brother in law Ron (Diane), stepsisters Janet, Brenda and Lynn, grandchildren Ewan, Ben, Dylan and Hailey and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
A special thank you to the staff of Sunridge and Cowichan District Hospital for caring for mom in the last months and week of her life.
An open house to celebrate Carolyn’s life and share memories will be held at Duncan Community Lodge – 2244 Moose Rd – on October 5, 2025 from 1 to 3 PM.
