Carolyn Bowes

Tribute

Carolyn Bowes, daughter of the late Roy and Elizabeth Bowes. Beloved partner of Peter Knox and mother of Trevor (Alexandra). Step-mother to David (Jessica) and Vanessa (Mitch). Adored Gama to Madeline, Emily, Zoë, Grayson and Everett. Beautiful sister to Elizabeth, Roy (Nancy), Diana (Jeffrey) and Tom (Ruth).

Gentle Carolyn, a quiet joy to all. Determined and never pushy. Loving and never resentful. A great listener, who only counseled when asked. Fun and never loud. A wonderful person in every way, who will be dearly missed by loved ones, family, friends and all whose lives she touched.

Let’s walk the endless beach together, hand in hand, water lapping at our ankles, sand between our toes, wind blowing gently, trees swaying, blue skies, warm sunshine, an all embracing calm and joy.

Thank you to Dr. McGhie and the compassionate staff at the BC Cancer Center in Victoria. Absolute gratitude to the Dr. Adzich and the home and Cowichan Hospice House palliative care teams, who were so caring and attentive to end of life comfort.

Donations in memory to BC Cancer Centre (www.bccancerfoundation.com) and Cowichan Hospice House (www. cowichanhospice.org/hospice-house)

Relation: Best friend

I’m heartbroken over the loss of my dear best friend, Carolyn. She was a quiet light in my life—so kind, thoughtful, and always there when I needed her. Her love and warmth will be deeply missed, and my heart is with Peter, Trevor, David, Vanessa, her grandchildren, and everyone who loved her. The world won’t be the same without her.

I remember Carolyn from her days in the Department of Plant Science at Macdonald Campus. She was a great person to have in the Department. My condolences to all her family.

Whenever I needer her support as a Mac Campus student, I knew I could always depend on Carolyn’s warm, kind and professional attention to all things she handled. My condolences to her family.

We worked together on the Grad office at Mac. She was the quiet but strong pillar of the group. My thoughts and condolences to Peter and family.

From: Martina Stromvik
Relation: Work

Carolyn was our wonderful, sweet and devoted colleague in Plant Science/Mac for many years. She was sorely missed when she retired, and I was always happy to run in to her and Peter afterwards. I am so sad to hear of her passing. My deep condolences to Peter, Trevor, all family and friends.

Hello Elizabeth, Roy, Diana and Tom,

Sorry to hear about your sister Carolyn. After decades of doing other things, she and I had been in contact a bit over the last couple of years. I don’t recall how it started, but it was nice. She seems to have been in a good place, retiring to British Columbia after many years and a full career in Montreal. My brothers and I remember dropping in at Baie D’Urfe even when your grandmother (Great Aunt Beth to us) was living there and all of us playing in the basement as the parents talked about whatever. I even recall the wrestling matches. Always a good time.

My wife, Ann, and I hope my daughters, plan to go to the Highland Games in 2026. Even if Carolyn can’t be there it would be nice to see a few Bowes.

Again, sorry to hear about Carolyn, but very glad to have been in contact with her a bit the last few years. She seemed happy and I am glad for that.

Cousin Donald
