Carole Ann Rothnie
October 11, 1942 - December 21, 2025
Tribute
Carole Ann Rothnie (nee Farquhar) was born was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on October 11, 1942. She passed away peacefully on December 21st, 2025, surrounded by love, with her devoted husband of 62 years, Ian, her children, and their families by her side.
After marrying, Carole and Ian immigrated to Canada in 1963, making homes in St. Boniface, Manitoba; Calgary, Alberta; Duncan, British Columbia; and finally settling in the seaside village of Cowichan Bay, British Columbia. Together they raised three children: Carolyn, Edward, and David who were the great joy and pride of her life.
Carole was incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and joyful, with a warmth that made people feel welcome and at ease. She had a quiet, caring way about her and found her greatest happiness in her family. She loved her husband, her three children, her daughters and son-in-law, and she took immense delight in being a grandmother to her seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to two wee ones.
Music and community brought Carole much joy. She loved signing with the Cowichan Musical Society and the Medford Singers, volunteering with the South Duncan Hospital Auxiliary and ushering at the Cowichan Theatre.
She also found peace in the simple pleasures of tending her garden and watching her hummingbirds.
Carole lived her life with kindness, grace, and joy that will continue to ripple through all who were lucky enough to know her.
She is deeply loved, dearly remembered, and will be forever missed.
Celebration of Life Saturday, January 24th, 2026 commencing at at 1 pm.
