Bruce Lorimer

September 29, 1941 - May 5, 2020

Tribute

Bruce Aitken Lorimer lost his battle to Lewy Body Dementia on May 5, 2020 at The Cowichan Lodge, his home for the last 2 years.
He was born on September 29, 1941 in Victoria, B.C. to George and Alberta Lorimer. Throughout his years, he lived in many different places on the island including Victoria, Caycuse, Lake Cowichan, Youbou, Courtenay, Duncan, Mill Bay and eventually settling in Shawnigan Lake where they raised their family in the same home for 47 years.
At retirement, Bruce and Robbie had a home built for them in Crofton with a beautiful view of the ocean. On October 9, 1965, he married Roberta Robison. Together, they made many great memories, usually at the dragstrips, Van Isle and San Cobble. In those days, he was well known for having Casper and his 1929 Model A, which is still in the family. He operated Millstream Shell in Mill Bay for many years until he decided to work from home as a mechanic, which he retired from in 2014.
As retirement neared, Bruce and Robbie enjoyed going south to Arizona in their 5th Wheel with many close friends and meeting many new friends there. Closer to home, he enjoyed camping, fishing, attending car shows and anything that involved being with his family. He was always looking to catch the big one at Nitnat or Renfrew.
He was predeceased by his father, George (whom he never met as was killed in the war). Also predeceased by his mother and step-father, Alberta and Harry Whiskin, who together raised him to be the fine man we all know and love. He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 55 years Robbie, son Bruce Jr (Sandra), daughters Shelly and Tracy (Dan). Grandchildren whom he adored Chris (Hannah), Dillon, Britni (Ryan), Alicia (David) and Caden. Also leaves behind his beloved great grandsons Hunter and Remington. Also leaves behind his siblings David (Kathy), Larry (Lorie) and Linda (Spud), plus so many other amazing relatives and special friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Grymaloski, plus all the other drs, nurses and care staff at Cowichan District Hospital and Cowichan Lodge that took care of him over the last couple years.
Celebration of Life to be held at a later date
