Tribute

Bruce passed away after a hard fought 15 year battle with Alzheimer’s, which gradually stripped away the man we knew and loved, but we will always have our memories that we will cherish forever.

Bruce was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Victoria, then went to Orcas Island to be with his family. He moved to Victoria with his parents in time to start school.  He attended Tillicum Elementary, St. Louis College and Mt. View High. He was always active in sports, hockey, lacrosse, hiking, swimming, canoeing and Fall hunting trips. He spent sixteen years with The Shawnigan Lake Volunteer Fire Department retiring as Deputy Chief.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann, daughters Lisa (Len),Tara (Neil), Grandchildren Trevor, Alyssa and Adam and sister Lynne, nieces Marilyn and Wendy. There will be a gathering of family and friends at his home, 825 Trunk Rd., Duncan, on March 10th 2018, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

The family would like to thank Dr. A. Szabo, staff from Arbutus House at Sunridge, and Don from Home Support for their many years of wonderful support. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bruce’s name to Alzheimer’s Society of BC.

I was so very saddened when Tara told me of losing Bruce. Though I knew him for a brief time as far as seeing him, i have many fond memories of talking hockey with him and telling some jokes while at the golf course. I am so very sorry for your loss and consider myself lucky to have known him.
