Brian McDonald

March 27, 1943 - June 27, 2022

Tribute

Born March 27, 1943, in Duncan BC, Brian passed away in his home following a difficult battle with respiratory illness. He was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Laurel (nee Colk) McDonald, sister Carole Ridgway and brother Walter McDonald. He is survived by his children Lori McDonald, son Allan Fleming (wife Toni and mother Anne-Marie) and sons Warren and Scott (wife Kim) McDonald and their mother Roselyn as well as his sister Miriam Fry (husband Mike). Brian also had seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, and a nephew.

Early in his career, Brian worked in forestry but his love of flying was overwhelming and he ventured into a new career as a pilot. After obtaining his pilot’s license, he flew for a small airline company out of Prince George, but his true passion was flying float planes. He became a successful bush pilot in Northern BC and piloted for Columbia and West Coast Air as well as Ted Leroy Logging.

Brian had a mischievous sense of humour and a big heart. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and was extremely proud of each and every one of them.

Brian’s family is very thankful to the caregivers who assisted him in his final few months and to his close friends that stepped up to provide invaluable help and companionship.

The family is planning a Ceremony of Life for his final flight. Information will be provided once arrangements have been set.

Hey Mac you were a legend and a hero to all of us that knew you. You will always be my captain when I am flying. You taught me to feel the airplane and feel what she is telling you. No one did it better than you big guy. Thanks also for all the great memories, adventures and great stories you left for us to pass on.

From: Scott Graham

Met Brian in Kamloops in the 1980’s . Spent many hours flying with him as an AME in his favourite airplane the beech 18.
