Tribute

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our brother, Jimmie, at home on February 1, 2016. Jim was born at King’s Daughters Hospital on April 22, 1954 in Duncan, BC. He was preceded by his parents Archie and Mary Hudson, his sister Dianne Brown and his sister in law, Marlene Hudson. Jim is survived by his siblings Douglas Hudson (Marilyn), Alan Hudson, Patricia McInnes and brother in law Jim Brown. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

In his youth, Jimmie moved with his parents to Tahsis until their retirement when they all returned to Duncan. As a young man, Jim as a crew member on a sailboat that was to sail from Taiwan to Vancouver Island. The boat hit a severe storm, the crew had to abandon ship and survived for fifteen days until a Russian Trawler rescued them.

Jimmie enjoyed going to race car races, working in the race car pits, fishing, camping, playing his guitar and socializing with family and friends. Jim valued his extended family at Doman’s Industries (WFP), Cowichan Bay. He worked at the sawmill for 38 years and eventually became the quad – saw operator.

The family would like to thank Valley Medical Clinic and Dr. Ibrahim for their care of our brother.

From: Mimi ( Hooper) Zuyderduyn
Relation: friend

Jim was a friend of mine, up in Tahsis. We went on double dates, and were teenagers in a small town together. Always fun, thoughtful and quite a character. I saw him again in Duncan after his ocean adventure but we didn’t cross paths again. I do remember him with fondness. My condolences to his family.

From: Kathy Elzinga/Anderson
Relation: Friend for more than 30 yrs.

It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of one great friend that I had for so many years. Even with me marrying and moving to Washington State for 20 yrs. I still kept in touch with my Friend, Jim. What great trip that I had with Jim was the trip to Ucluelet with him and my Daughter, Buffy. The great memories we had of going to the Jolly Rancher and the Galaxy. I will forever remember the great times we had. So glad that I got in touch with Jim when I moved back to the Island in 2013. You will be missed so very much.
To the Family, I send my deepest condolences.
Jim, will remain in my heart, forever.
Sincerely, Kathy.

Relation: Relationship - How did you know the deceased?

I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We first met in 1976 when I worked at the Duncan Mohawk and he was driving that blue van. The connection stayed and we would see each other off and on over the years. My condolences to the family.
