Beverly Kraushar

April 27, 1938 - May 6, 2024

Tribute

On May 6th our beloved father, Bev Kraushar, passed away peacefully to join his wife and true love Jackie.    Dad is lovingly remembered by his daughters Corinne (Scott) and Joanne (Dale), and his granddaughters Ashley and Nicole.

Jackie and Bev raised their girls in Sherwood Park, Alberta before moving to Thetis Island, BC in 1979.   Shortly after moving they opened the “Electric Outlet” lighting store in Duncan.  Bev was a member of the Cowichan Valley business community for over 30 years until his retirement in 2015.

Bev’s pride and joy were his girls: his wife Jackie, his daughters Cor and Jo, and his granddaughters Ashley, and Nicole.

He was a man of few words, but those spoken carried the weight of knowledge and that of purpose.  Bev was always quick to laugh, and generous in understanding and acceptance.   He was known for his love of trains, cars, his dog, and a long draw on his pipe.  Bev enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the garden, and dabbling with his hobbies – in particular his model railroad and ’63 valiant convertible.  As a young family, vacations were spent camping at nearby lakes, traveling into the rockies, and visiting steam train and automobile museums.

Bev was born in Peterborourgh, Ontario to Ed and Olive Kraushar and was raised in Edmonton, Alberta.  He was the eldest of eight children and is fondly remembered by Karen (Dean), Diane (Phil), Lyle (Nerissa), Marlaine (Boyd), Kirby (Valerie), Myron (Cheryl), Darrell (Marites), and many nieces and nephews.

He began his professional life working in the family business, Renown Industries, in Edmonton.  Bev went on to work for Simpson Maxwell and General Electric before moving to British Columbia in 1979.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Oyster Harbour Seniors Community in Ladysmith.

It is with heartfelt sorrow and much love that we say goodbye,

Corinne Kraushar and Scott Lipscomb

Joanne, Dale, Ashley and Nicole Ellison

A Prayer

by Olive M. Kraushar (Bev’s mom)

When the light of life burns gently out

And those in darkness left –

Seek solace from the one who leads

And comforts the bereft,

May He, with all His tenderness,

Give you both love and light,

And lead you to a brighter day

Where there shall be –

No Night!

A  private celebration will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating your time with loved ones in long-term care or supporting the Parkinson’s Society.

Sending our love to all 💔so many memories with Uncle Bev and Aunt Jackie, family dinners, camping, vacations or just visiting. Uncle Bev was a genuine gentleman with a loving heart. Even through his challenges he never lost the kindness that came from within and why he was so loved and will be deeply missed💞

My most sincere condolences Corinne and Joanne. I have very fond memories of your mom and dad and how they made visits to their homes very special. Thetis Island visits were the best! I hope you are comforted by happy memories and their adoration of you both! Much love, Brenda and family
