Beverly Joan Cathers (Nee Best)

August 9, 1941 - October 10, 2018

Tribute

Bev passed peacefully October 10, 2018. She was born to the late Stanley Best and Hilda

Best in Chemainus, BC on August 9th, 1941. Bev is survived by her husband of 56 years,

David, her children, Paul (Rachel), Kim (Richard), Chrisy, Ron and her seven grandchildren

Kai, Kinsey, Nic, George, Elyse, Kristian and Sophia. She also leaves behind many loving

relatives and friends. Family and friends were Bev’s love and delight – along with Pepper – her

faithful pup.

Bev was an active member in her community and was a twenty year plus volunteer with the

Canadian Arthritis Society. She was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and

served four terms as President of the Duncan Branch #53.

Diagnosed with liver cancer over 5 years ago, Bev never gave up. She never complained and

maintained a brave, positive outlook of an optimistic future.

A special thank you to the healthcare team at Cairnsmore Place for the loving and exceptional

care she received.

A celebration of life will be held at Duncan Eagles Hall, Saturday, December 8th from 1-4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Bev to the Cowichan

District Hospital Foundation in support of New Hospital Building Fund.”

H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Jacqueline Mills
Relation: She is my son's mother.

With sadness I write and share in your sorrow. I spoke to Beverely only once to tell her of the deep gratitude I had for her and David, to acknowledge the love that they had bestowed on my child, that that I could not. There is no greater love than a mothers love for her children. With sadness I grieve with you Cathers. Love.

From: Islay Brand
Relation: friend and long time ago neighbour

Sending you all our deepest sympathies. I used to live next door to Beverly when growing up in Chemainus. Our family had lots of happy memories of the Best family.

Relation: Bev was my neighbour and employed me in her store

Dear David, Paul, Kim and Ron,
I thought Bev was an amazing woman and was so grateful she was a part of my life growing up in Agassiz. I am thinking of you all with fond memories and I am so sorry for your loss. My Mom was there to greet her, I am sure. Best, Lori Kieser ( nee Scollon )
