Beatrice LaRose (Fortin)
September 4th, 1926 to October 6th, 2018
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Beatrice LaRose. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Rene LaRose, and her son, Gary LaRose. Beatrice left this world suddenly but peacefully into the arms of God.
Beatrice will be remembered with love and admiration by her children, Daniel LaRose (Margaret), Diane Jordan (Ken), Arline McKay (Lou), John LaRose (Shannon), David LaRose (Sheila), and Wayne LaRose (Michelle). She was cherished by 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren who she loved unconditionally and without boundaries. She is remembered by several nieces, nephews & extended family members. Beatrice is survived by her sisters, Emelia Lamontagne and Arlene Carter, who she loved dearly. Beatrice was born on September 4, 1926 in Coderre, Saskatchewan. She travelled the long distance by train with her father to British Columbia in 1942. Beatrice first started working with the Catholic Nuns where she strengthened her faith in God. She then started working in Victoria at the shipyard catching rivets where they nick named her Rosey. Here is where she met the love of her life Rene LaRose and they began their family and moved to the old farm in Cowichan Station. Beatrice lived life by her own rules, she loved endlessly & passionately. She raised her 7 children on the farm where she shared the adventures that life had to offer. When times were tough on the farm Beatrice taught her family how to work the land to provide and nourish each other. She showed her children the importance of family and hard work. She was determined and passionate when it came to life and she shared that with everyone she touched. When her grandchildren were born, Beatrice was just as much a mother as she was a grandmother to them. She helped raise them, care for them & helped them grow. She nourished their childhood curiosity and adventure at her home. Beatrice & Rene never turned down an opportunity to babysit, watch a sporting event or dance competition. She was fiercely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they are all better people for having her in their lives. We would like to thank all of the staff at Ts’I’ts’uwatul Lelum Independent Living, Dr. Gilbert for his years of care, BCA’s Paramedics & Nurses (Kerri), and the emergency Doctors. You have all provided our mother with the utmost care, love and compassion. We are forever grateful for your kindness. Beatrice lived a long and loving life filled with family and friends. Her memories will be forever cherished by everyone whose life she touched. A Mass will be celebrated in St. Edward’s Roman Catholic Church, 2085Maple Bay Road, Duncan BC on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Followed by a reception where we will share memories, photos and celebrate the life of Beatrice LaRose at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in the form of a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
