Barbara (Barb) Mary Roderick
May 16, 1959 - November 9, 2018
Tribute
After a long illness, Barb died with dignity and courage on November 9, 2018, holding hands with her daughter Alyssa, and her siblings Laura (Gerry), Karen (Glenn), Heather and Daffyd. On her request, a private family celebration of life was held on November 11. We miss her with all our hearts.
Barb was a great field-hockey player, proudly drove a ’67 Firebird as a teenager and was always quick to laugh. She loved music and would proudly tell you of seeing the Rolling Stones first, last tour, and many more. Barb loved babies and many photographs of her show her with her daughter or one of her nine nieces and nephews cuddled up on her lap.
She was always happy at a beach with the warmth of the sun shining down on her and the sand between her toes; next time you’re enjoying a day by the ocean, share a smile with her.
She is fondly remembered by her colleagues at the South Island Distance Education School in Victoria, where she was a long-service employee.
Her family is extremely grateful for the care and kindness of Cowichan Hospice, Chemainus Health Care Centre staff, and Anglican ministry who brought her great comfort in her final days.

Dear Laura and family, barb was a part of my growing up and Somenos Road gang. We used to walk up mt. Prevost and run from shady spot to shady spot and have a cigarette at each stop. We also took the bus to Victoria a couple times to get her brace wires changed. When they came off she had the most beautiful smile. She is part of my youth and I will always treasure her memory.
