From: Colette
Relation: Friend, fellow quilter
Don, Scott, Brent and Families — Barbara became my friend when I joined Victoria’s Quilts Canada-KEMPTVILLE Branch. We enjoyed many luncheons and get-togethers and she taught me a lot about quilting. I sure miss her. Please accept our condolences. Colette & Peter Stanisci, Kemptville, Ontario
From: Terry Richmond and Doug Ward
Relation: Neighbours from BROWN’S INLET in Ottawa
Dear Don, Brent and Scott. Doug and I are so very sorry to have gotten this sad news about Barbara. She was SUCH a force. Ironically, we were just chatting about our dear Dutton neighbours only two days ago, and we were recalling all the lovely hand-painted treasures from Barbara — ornaments and tooth fairy boxes — we still have tucked away. Our thoughts are with you all.
From: Libby Monaco
Relation: Neighbors fors many years.
Sending sincere condolences to you all. Very sad news. Hold your cherished memories close in your heart. Love, Libby and Mario

Having met Barbara in a short period of time is one of the joys both myself and my wife will forever cherish. She was a valuable member of the “NEWBIES” and will be missed.

Many fond memories and sending my deepest sympathy to Barbara’s family
From: Jocelyn Rait
Relation: Friend and neighbour
Barbara was a valued friend and neighbour. She introduced me to Victoria’s Quilts where she was an impressive member of the executive, and we enjoyed getting together as neighbours. Barbara was the most organized person I have ever met and I am always trying to meet her high standards in everything I do! We have been missing Barbara and Don since they moved to BC, but now we really miss her. Our sympathies go our to Don, Scott and Brent and their families. Jocelyn and Alec Rait
From: Shirley Farquhar
Relation: Friend
I was heart broken to hear of Barbara’s passing. I met Barbara over 35 years ago through my Mom, May Robertson, who was a dear friend of Barbara’s. After my mom passed Barbara and I remained friends and we met monthly at Stitch and Chat. She and I shared a love of quilting and she taught me invaluable lessons of sewing and life. I have wonderful memories of sewing quilts for Quilts of Valour in her cozy studio. Every Christmas Barbara hosted our potluck lunch and went to great lengths to set a beautiful table and welcome us with such a warm heart. I will miss her terribly and my deepest sympathies go to Don, Scott and Brent.
From: Mike & Judi Millard
Relation: friend and neighbour
Judi and I are Don and Barbara’s neighbours. We first met in their driveway when they were in the seemingly unending process of unpacking after their move from Ontario. Minutes after our initial meeting Barbara came knocking on our door to give Judi a quilt Barbara and her association made for cancer patients to keep warm while receiving chemo. Barb’s thoughtful generosity and care for Judi after only a brief introduction told us much about the kind of person she was. Our impression was confirmed when sometime later Barbara again came knocking on our door, this time delivering a bouquet of daffodils with the message “Happy Spring Day!” Lasting impressions of a special lady from short, but meaningful encounters.

Relation: family
Dear Don, Scott and Brent, our deepest sympathy to you at your loss, we will keep close our memories gathered all these years, too many to mention, we can only imagine how long these past months must have been for Barbara as she gave it everything she had and the courage to keep going but it would appear there was a greater plan for her, we know she is at peace, in our thoughts and prayers, Wesley (Suzanne Lanctot-Gibson spouse of Wesley)
