Barbara Ann Ferguson
Tribute
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Ferguson, on January 5, 2025. Barb lived a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community. She was 77 years old.
Barb was the beloved wife of Dave and a devoted mother to her daughter Cathy (Mike) and son Cameron (Tricia). She found immense joy in her role as a grandma to Koltin, Kalliana, Talon, Draysen, Danica and Maddex. Fondly known to many as both Mum & Gma she shared a special connection with her “extra kids and grandchildren”, which held a cherished place in her heart.
Barb is lovingly remembered by her siblings Elaine, Erin, Norine, Nancy, and Bruce; she also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members. Barb was predeceased by her parents Harvine, Sam & Helen Beemish.
A compassionate caregiver by nature and profession, Barb dedicated much of her life to nursing. Her kindness touched countless lives through both her work and personal connections. She loved her time taking care of the residents at Cowichan Lodge and many, in the community, will fondly remember her as the warm smile behind the counter at the Mall lottery booth.
Family was at the heart of everything Barb did. She never missed a grandchild’s sporting or musical event. Known affectionately as “Gma” by some of her favorite hockey players and her own grandchildren—she was their biggest cheerleader both on and off the ice. A passionate Vancouver Canucks fan, she lovingly referred to the team as “her boys,” cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm.
She found creative expression in scrapbooking—preserving cherished memories for generations to come—and delighted in exploring the Oregon coast as a self-proclaimed chowder connoisseur. Whether it was a “Ferguson tour”, adventures with Dave, family trips or simply spending time at home surrounded by loved ones, Barb created moments that will be treasured forever.
Barb’s warmth, devotion to family, and passion for life leaves an enduring legacy. She is deeply missed by all who knew her, many of whom have their own cherished memories of Barb.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to their friends, Dr Bass, Jonathan and the GSS Team, to Ron and Gail and the amazing staff of Cairnsmore Place and to Laura-Lee and her colleagues at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre. Your support has been above & beyond.
May we find comfort in our own way of celebrating a life so beautifully lived. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Barb’s memory to Canuck Place or the Cowichan Family Caregivers Support Society or perform a simple random act of kindness in her name.

Cathy, Mike and the entire family.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom/Barb/Gma.
I have many fond memories of Barb, with most of those being hockey related. I always enjoyed sitting in the cold of the arena, chatting and laughing but more importantly, cheering on our team together. What a proud Gma she was!
Thinking of you all and sending my most heartfelt condolences.

Good coffee with a good friend tastes even better. How many thousand of cups did we have over the years? Whether it was curling, camping, Disneyland, or just getting together. I will miss you, Barb. My heart goes out to all the family.
