Anna Parker
September 20, 1926 - December 1, 2010
Tribute
Anna lived her life with grace, dignity and gentleness and similarly she left us on December 1, 2010, passing peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Mourning their loss, Anna leaves her loving husband of 64 years, Charles, her children Larry (Rosemarie), Karen (Rob), Elaine and Randy (Louise), plus 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Laura Ellefson and Dorothy Hall. She was predeceased by her parents Lawrence Devlin and Nanny Fowler (Devlin) and her brothers, Gordon, Don and Glenn.
Anna was born on September 20th, 1926 on the family farm near Athabasca, Alberta. In 1947, she and Charles were married and raised their family in Athabasca and Edmonton. Through the years, Anna was keen to share adventures with Charles. They learned to fly, traveled extensively through Canada and the US, hiked the Cape Scott Trail and made several trips to Europe seeking out distant relatives. Together they sang and danced through numerous musical productions and it was not uncommon to hear Anna’s lovely singing voice filling the family home.
In 1979, leaving behind many dear friends, Anna and Charles left Athabasca and retired to Duncan, BC. It was not long before the draw of her inner strength and warmth saw her once again surrounded by family and friends, both old and new.
Whether turning a pen to produce insightful and humorous stories from otherwise ordinary events or creating lifelike images with the whimsical touch of a paintbrush, her life proved a tapestry of talents that revealed her love of the people and animals around her. Through her wonderful imagination and good humour, she coloured our lives.
With strength and tenderness, she loved her family well. We will miss her dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at the St Peter”s Anglican Church, Maple Bay Road, Duncan, BC at 3 pm. Donations to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers is appreciated. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com
