Andrew John Ross
Tribute
1948-2025
Andy was born in Victoria, BC to Alice MacWilliam and was predeceased by his mother Alice and his sister Molly.
He is survived by his wife, soulmate and forever partner June, his daughter Chris, son Mike, son Sean (Lindsay) and brother, John. He is also survived by his two grandsons Liam and Carter.
Andy spent his late teens and early twenties working for a variety of government and military agencies as a commercial diver and underwater welder. He always loved to share stories about his time “on the ships in the Arctic”. Once he settled down back in Victoria and family life became his priority, he became involved in the flooring industry and was a successful salesman and even more successful prankster for many years, ultimately retiring to his little piece of paradise on the lake in 2015.
Throughout his life Andy loved making people laugh and always rooted for the underdog.
One of his favourite quotes was:
“When you’re dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is difficult only for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.”
A celebration of Andy’s life will be held on Nov 16, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm at the Victoria Fish and Game Protective Association, located at 700 Holker Place on the Malahat (right near the summit).
There are extreme sensitivities to scents and fragrances in the family, please refrain from wearing perfumes and colognes. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Andy always made it known that he loved animals far more than humans, therefore in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the BCSPCA.
Please RSVP to seanross97@gmail.com by Nov 7th, so we can make arrangements for snacks.

From: Lisa Smith
Relation: A casual friend.
I met Andy and June when I came to stay with my dog Sam. June and I chatted after I arrived and Sam then followed Andy in to their house. Sam never left my side so I knew Andy was a good man. Dogs just know those things. After my stay, I left there thinking they were an amazing couple. So in sync with each other and both so very kind. I stayed again the next year.
No words can express how sorry I am, June.

Relation: friend and neighbor
We have been neighbors of Andy for over 20 years. During that time we’ve shared many conversations and had a few chuckles along the way. Andy was kind and helpful and always ready with a witty remark or joke. We miss you Andy and the old place is not the same without you. Pauline and Walt
