Amrit Purewal
February 19, 1937 - May 11, 2019
Tribute
Amrit Purewal passed away on May 11, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in the small village of Dhahan, District, Nawashar, Punjab, India to Ujjagar Singh and Balwant Kaur Kang. She was one of six children; she had four older sisters and a younger brother. She married her husband, Kuldip Singh Purewal, in 1957 and moved with him to England. After she was widowed at a young age, she lived in Canada with her brother, Jarnail, and sister in law, Ajit, and helped them to raise their four children and eleven grandchildren.
Amrit cared dearly for others, especially her younger brother. She was also known to always cook her grandchildren’s favorite foods when they came to visit and knit baby blankets and sweaters for her family. Her loss will be deeply felt by her brother, daughter, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. She touched many lives, and will be greatly missed, forever cherished, and always remembered by all those who loved her.
Funeral Service will be at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre (5285 Polkey Road) on Sunday May 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM followed by prayers at Duncan Gurdwara.
