Allen David Smy

April 10, 1950 - March 31, 2021

Tribute

Al passed away peacefully at Sunridge Place in Duncan, BC but he will live on in our hearts forever. He was born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario where he discovered his love for playing and watching hockey at an early age, which stayed with him throughout his life.

When he was 25 Al took a road trip across Canada to Vancouver Island and fell in love with the West Coast where he made his new home. He lived a simple life and didn’t need many possessions. Al was a skilled electrician, mechanic, farmer, gardener, and had a great eye for photography. What always mattered most was family and friends and anyone who knew him would tell you he was a kind man with a huge heart, whose smile would light up the room.

Al will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife Charmaine, his sister Susan (Robbie), brothers Rick (Sarah), Bruce (Melissa and Kayla), daughters Karma (Cameron, Emily) Coral (Claire, Preston, Alexis) Oriana, stepdaughters Andrea Walker (Vince, Kimberley, Cody), Gina Dias (Dan, Kate, Sjonye, Dawson), five beautiful great grandchildren and all his many friends he met throughout his life.

Relation: He was my Uncle, my father's (Rick) brother .

We only met in person once that I remember, upper canada village for granny’s birthday. You sent me a wonderful Christmas gift one year, it was a row off satchels, hand made, each satchel had a tiny something inside, sort of like an advent calendar, I was 3 and I remember it so vividly. Thank you for those memories, not many but they had a great impact. I love you Uncle Al.
