Tribute
Bert Larmand (Albert Leon Joseph Larmand) passed into the arms of Jesus in the early morning of December 22, 2025, at the Cowichan District Hospital. He was born on February 13, 1948, in Victoria, BC, to Therese and Leo Larmand, his parents having predeceased him by several years. Bert lived most of his life on Vancouver Island, where he met and married his wife, Catherine Larmand (nee Marentette), who predeceased him. His older brother Roger Larmand and his younger brother John Larmand were also already in Heaven to welcome him. Bert is survived by his friend and sister-in-law, Fran Larmand, as well as the rest of his siblings and their spouses: Louise (Robin) Chaster, Carol (Greg) Brett, Diane (Bruce) Corrie, Marie (Rob) Buchner, and Dan (Wendy) Larmand, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Bert loved his family deeply, and we will all miss his steadfast presence, his humour, and his loving support.
Bert spent about the last ten years of his life living at Duncan Manor, where he was a beloved member of the community and where he will be keenly missed by everyone there. The family holds you all in love for being such good friends to him all these years. The family also wishes to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Bert in hospital.
Bert’s remains will be interred at the Shawnigan Cemetery later this spring once family can be here. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
