Alan Gibson

November 14, 1931 - February 18, 2015

Tribute

Alan passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital on a beautiful winter’s day surrounded by the love of his family.  Born to Eric and Alice (Brownie) Gibson, Alan had an active and happy childhood in Shawnigan Lake where he participated in many sports and developed a love for anything mechanical related to forestry.  A natural athlete, Alan excelled at baseball, basketball, badminton, tennis, skiing, sailing and driving.  He was also pretty good with a deck cards.  Alan was known for his reliability to all, especially his children and grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally.  A man of few words, Alan’s kindness, sense of humour and quick wit never failed to lighten the lives of the people in his life.  He will be truly missed by all.  Alan is survived by his sister, Lois Joyce and his brother, Jack (Rosemary); his five children, John (Elizabetta), David, Janet Garrison (Marc), Grant  and Craig (Marjorie); eight grandchildren; Clint, Courtney, Larissa, Scott, Sean, Kristen, Keaton and Chloe; nephew, Michael and his children, Alex and James, nieces Marcia and Penelope, his long time companion, Lesley Wolford and many friends.  There will be an informal celebration of life at H. W. Wallace Funeral Home Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 P.M.. Please don’t bring anything but a memory and story of our wonderful Dad.  The family would like to thank  the nursing and emergency staff, Dr. Katherine and Dad’s GP, Dr. Bass for their caring handling of Dad during his brief stay in hospital.
