Adele Macinnes
October 27, 1932 - July 15, 2010
Tribute
ADELE MACINNES (nee HORREX) Born to Arthur and Helen Horrex in Armstrong B.C. October 27, 1932, Adele later lived in Revelstoke before coming with her family to the Cowichan Valley in 1947. She attended Cowichan Station School and graduated from Cowichan Senior Secondary, wherein she enjoyed competing in sports and played for a while on the school basketball team. However her greatest pleasure was derived from five-pin bowling, in which she participated not only as a bowler but also as a coach for the local Youth Bowling Association. She won a number of awards and trophies over the years and eventually achieved the status of Master Bowler. But of greater importance to her than winning awards was the fun she had with her teammates, the jokes and laughs she delighted in sharing with them and their opponents alike. Adele passed away quietly in the presence of her immediate family, Thursday, July 15, 2010. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her ready wit, steadfast devotion to family, and unwavering honesty. And she will be forever loved by her devoted husband Ian; her children, Gaye (Tim), Sandy (Maureen) and Karen (Ron);, her siblings, Yvonne, Bill, Dianne, and Glenn; and also as “Nana” by her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held for Adele at the Duncan Meadows Golf Course on Saturday, August 14th from 1:00 until 3:00.
