POELMAN, Aaltje (Kattenbroek)
It is with sad hearts that the family of Aaltje (Alice) Poelman announces her passing on July 24, 2019 with her daughters by her side. Aaltje was born on August 21, 1940, in Lunteran, Holland, to Geurt and Wilhelmina Kattenbroek. She was the youngest of twelve children. She immigrated to Canada in January 1963 to marry the love of her life, Jan Poelman. They began their married life in Duncan at the farm on Herd Road, eventually moving to Jaynes Road.
Aaltje was predeceased by her husband Jan and their daughter Wilma. She is survived by their daughters Jane (Chris), Irene (Gerry), and Janet. She was a loving Oma to her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Catherine, Sonja, Nicole, Erik, Ethan, and Emma. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her cat Rosie.
Aaltje enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Skip-Bo, and doing jig-saw puzzles with family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting toques, reading, and listening to music. You could often find her outside gardening and feeding the birds. Her wit and abundant advice will be missed by all who loved her.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Kubatskyy, Dr. Nielsen, and the wonderful nurses and staff at CDH. We will forever be grateful for the care she received at Cerwydden, her home for the past two and a half years.
There will be a private family service followed by a tea for friends and family.
